Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Expensology, the expense-tracking web application available at expensology.netlify.app (the "Service"), operated by Expensology ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. The Service

Expensology lets you record one-off and recurring expenses, organize them in personal and shared spaces, and view statistics about your spending. The Service is currently provided free of charge. We may improve, change or discontinue features over time; if we ever discontinue the Service as a whole, we will give you reasonable advance notice so you can retrieve your data.

2. Your account

• You need an account to use the Service. You can register with an email address and password or by signing in with your Google Account.
• You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials confidential.
• You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
• You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' data, or the infrastructure the Service runs on;
• abuse the space-invitation feature to send unwanted messages, or invite people with misleading intent;
• interfere with the operation of the Service, for example by overloading it or introducing malicious code.

4. Your content

The expense data you enter belongs to you. You grant us only the rights needed to operate the Service: to store and process your data and to display it to you and to the members of the shared spaces it belongs to. We claim no other rights over your content, and we do not sell it. See the Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.

5. Shared spaces

• When you add an expense to a shared space, the members of that space can see it. Records you create can be edited and deleted only by you.
• The owner of a shared space controls its membership and may remove members or delete the space (which removes its data for everyone).
• You may leave a shared space at any time.

6. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Expensology is a personal record-keeping tool: statistics and currency conversions are informational, based on the data you enter and public reference exchange rates, and do not constitute financial advice.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising out of your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or endanger the Service, notifying you when reasonably possible.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page; significant changes will also be announced in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
